Además, el aumento de las clases medias a nivel global se traducirá en un aumento de la demanda de carne y otros alimentos ricos en proteínas mientras que, paralelamente, el cambio climático podrá acabar con algunos importantes nichos agrícolas. Una previsión del aumento de la demanda que deberá sumarse al tradicional aumento del precio de algunos productos básicos de la dieta como el trigo y el arroz, que llevan encareciéndose a lo largo del a última década. La volatilidad de los precios de estos productos ha provocado una inestabilidad en los mercados que previsiblemente continuará.
